The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Israeli murder of members of Palestinian family seeking to offer free meals to forcibly-displaced people in Gaza.
Three members of the family running a free food distribution site were killed by the Israeli military. The vehicle of brothers Abdel Al Rahman, Hamza, and Tariq Darwish was reportedly targeted by an Israeli aircraft. Some 24 members of the same family were murdered by Israel earlier in the ongoing Israeli-U.S. genocide.
[NOTE: CAIR is now using the term “Israel-U.S.” to describe war crimes in Gaza because the Biden administration’s ongoing provision of money and weapons to the Israeli government despite President Biden’s violated red lines makes the U.S. intentionally complicit in the ongoing slaughter of Palestinians.]
Separately, World Central Kitchen (WCK) said it has paused its operations in Rafah due to “ongoing attacks” by Israeli forces. Israel killed seven WCK aid workers in April.
The UN humanitarian office and World Health Organization (WHO) today warned “children are starving” in Gaza because of Israel’s imposed famine in Gaza. WHO spokesperson Margaret Harris said: “The thing that I found most shocking was 85% of children did not eat for a whole day…”
Israel has slaughtered more than 36,200 Palestinians in Gaza, mostly women and children, with more than 81,000 others injured.
“This Biden administration-backed slaughter of civilians goes on day after day while the world looks on in horror,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad. “President Biden, through his support for Israeli genocide, forced starvation and ethnic cleansing, has lost any credibility in speaking on human rights anywhere in the world.”
Awad says Biden “seems increasingly indifferent to the slaughter of Palestinian civilians.”
Earlier today, CAIR demanded answers from the Agency for International Development (USAID) after a contractor with that agency resigned, saying USAID gave him a choice between resigning or dismissal over a presentation he wanted to give on maternal and child mortality among Palestinians.
Yesterday, CAIR condemned the far-right Israeli government’s destruction of a vegetable market in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
CAIR recently condemned the slaughter of some 45 Palestinian refugees – mostly women and children – sheltering in tents in the southern city of Rafah, Gaza, and yet another Israel-US massacre of Palestinian civilians in the so-called “safe zone” in Gaza.
Earlier this week, CAIR applauded another in a “growing list” of Biden administration officials who have resigned over the president’s continuing complicity in the Gaza genocide.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR also condemned former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley for a publicity stunt in which she inscribed a violent message on an Israeli artillery shell the day after Israel murdered 45 refugees.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
