The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the Israeli regime for murdering Khaled Nabhan, a Palestinian grandfather who became widely known after a video showed him kissing the eyes of his slain granddaughter and calling her “soul of my soul.”
Nabhan, who was known as “Abu Diaa,” was killed early on Monday in an Israeli bombardment targeting the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, local sources have confirmed. A photograph of Nabhan’s body shows the grandfather with a faint smile on his face.
In a statement, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“The Israeli occupation’s murder of Palestinian grandfather Khaled Nabhan is just the latest example of what it has done for years: wiping out generations of families. If President Biden has a conscience, it should be impossible for him to witness the slaughter of a fellow grandfather and continue to fund the killing of more families. We ask God to reunite Khaled with his granddaughter in the highest rank of paradise, and we pray that God holds their murderers accountable.”
