The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an attack on CNN journalists covering the murder of Saif Musallet in the occupied West Bank.
In a tweet, CNN Jerusalem correspondent Jeremy Diamond said Israeli settlers attacked him and his team in their car. The back window of the vehicle was smashed but the team managed to escape unharmed.
In a statement, CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison said:
“Media outlets nationwide must condemn the constant targeting of journalists by both the Israeli government and the racist settler mobs it enables. We are thankful that Mr. Diamond and his colleagues at CNN were unharmed in this attack. Sadly, Palestinian journalists are attacked and murdered by Israeli forces nearly every day. The silence of most western journalists over the fate of their Palestinian colleagues is deafening and must end.”
He also called on the international community to investigate the death of Scottish travel vlogger Emma Witters, who was killed in the West Bank after describing the realities of Israeli apartheid.
