The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned Israeli government for its ongoing escalation of human rights abuses against the Palestinian people, including letting Israeli settlers burn homes across the West Bank, shooting a teenage boy and his rescuer in violation of the Gaza ceasefire, and launching a massive attack on the Jenin refugee camp in an attempt to turn it into “the next Gaza.”
At least eight Palestinians have been killed and more than 35 wounded in an Israeli army raid on Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, according to health officials. An Israeli sniper shot and killed a Palestinian child on Monday and injured another in central Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip. Another Palestinian was wounded trying to retrieve the boy’s body.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“We strongly condemn the Israeli government for its ongoing attempts to spread death and destruction across the Holy Land and the broader Middle East. Shooting a child in Gaza and his rescuer, letting Israeli settlers rampage through the West Bank, and attempting to turn Jenin into the next Gaza are just the Netanyahu government’s latest war crimes. If President Trump is serious about securing peace in the Middle East, he should start by ordering the self-serving Netanyahu to stop using American taxpayer dollars to spread death and destruction.”
