(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/30/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a neo-Nazi group’s attempt to promote antisemitic hate in Iowa.
A controversy has developed over the neo-Nazi group hanging antisemitic signs on a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, overpass in November. Police did not immediately remove the signs over First Amendment concerns.

“While even bigots are protected by the First Amendment, all Americans have a duty to use their own free speech rights to speak out against racist hate,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Bigots of all stripes should be repudiated and marginalized.”
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
