The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned neo-Nazi and antisemitic vandalism this weekend targeting the Morrison Family YMCA in Charlotte, North Carolina.
A YMCA bus was spray-painted with hate speech and symbols, including a Nazi swastika and “Save the White Race.” Signs and the sidewalk were similarly vandalized.
“We condemn this white supremacist and antisemitic vandalism and urge local, state and national leaders to speak our clearly and forcefully against the rising bigotry targeting all minority communities,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
He urged institutions serving the public to utilize CAIR’s Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety guide, which contains security advice applicable to institutions of all faiths.
