The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the reported takeover of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied West Bank by Illegal Israeli settlers.
Israeli media report that Israeli authorities intend to transfer administrative authority over the historic mosque from the Islamic Waqf and the Palestinian Hebron Municipality to a “settler administrative council.”

In a statement, CAIR said:
“The reported handover of administrative authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque to racist, illegal Israeli settlers is a blatant act of religious and cultural appropriation that violates international law and is an attack on the faith of Muslims worldwide.
“The international community, especially Muslim nations, should take immediate action to prevent further appropriation of Islamic holy sites and to hold the Israeli government accountable for its ongoing violations of religious freedom and human dignity.”
