CAIR Demands Immediate Release of U.S. Teen Held by Israel After Reports of Deteriorating Health

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded the immediate release of Mohammed Ibrahim, a Palestinian-American teenager born in Florida, from Israeli captivity after his family expressed concern over his deteriorating health.

Mohammed Ibrahim, who has been imprisoned by Israeli forces since February after they claimed he was throwing rocks at Israeli settlers, is reportedly losing weight drastically and suffering from scabies.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“The United States must force the Israeli government to release Mohammed Ibrahim immediately. If any other country were to hold an American citizen in captivity in this way, there would be serious outrage on the part of the administration. Mohammed Ibrahim is an American and belongs at home with his family. The genocidal Israeli government must face consequences for unjustly imprisoning and maltreating an American citizen.”

Mitchell noted that Israeli forces have reportedly killed 83 Gazans in the past 24 hours.
