The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded a public apology from an Idaho state senator who reportedly told a Native American to “go back where you came from”.
During a forum this week, Sen. Dan Foreman allegedly told Trish Carter-Goodheart, a member of the Nez Perce Tribe, “I’m so sick and tired of this liberal bull—-. Why don’t you go back to where you came from?” In a Facebook, Foreman said the incident was a “quintessential display of race-baiting.” He posted: “There is no systemic racism in America or Idaho.”

“We urge Senator Foreman to recognize the systemic racism that continues to target minority communities nationwide – as evidenced by his racist outburst – and demand that he apologize publicly and educate himself about the Native American experience,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.
Hooper said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
