CAIR Expresses Condolences on Passing of Imam Mahdi Bray

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today expressed its condolences on the passing of Imam Mahdi Bray.

Imam Mahdi Bray was a Muslim civil and human rights activist and a leader. He was the National Director of the American Muslim Alliance and formerly served as executive director of the Muslim American Society’s Freedom Foundation (MAS Freedom) in Washington, D.C.

His Janazah, or funeral prayer, will be held tomorrow, at 1:30 PM at Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church.

In a statement, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“To God we belong and to Him we return. We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of our brother, our colleague and our friend Mahdi Bray. Mahdi was a lifelong advocate for justice who worked tirelessly to defend the rights of Muslims and all others whose rights were being infringed. We pray that God enters him into paradise and grants solace to his family.”
