The Florida chapter Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Florida), the state’s largest civil rights and advocacy organization, today issued a call to action asking residents of Manatee County and all Floridians to contact Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells and Florida State Attorney Ed Brodsky’s offices to hold Dr. Douglas Grierson, a Florida dentist, accountable for his alleged harassment and threats targeting a Muslim family last Mother’s Day.
CAIR-Florida Media and Outreach Director Wilfredo Amr Ruiz stated: “Racial harassment and intimidation have no place in Florida, and it is crucial that justice is served to send a clear message that such public behavior is not tolerated here.” Ruiz added: “We are calling on all Floridians to stand up for justice by joining this call to action, asking Manatee County Sheriff Wells and State Attorney Brodsky to take immediate action to investigate this incident and hold the alleged perpetrator accountable.”
