CAIR Launches Survey to Assess Maryland Muslim Students’ Experiences in Public Education

The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced the launch of its 2024 School Climate Survey for Muslim students attending Maryland public schools.

TAKE ACTION: Complete the survey if you are a Muslim student attending Maryland public schools

“The safety and well-being of our children in schools is a top priority,” said CAIR’s Maryland Outreach Coordinator Kim Syuardi. “Participating in this survey will help us recognize and bridge the gaps in fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.”

The survey is designed to assess and gather data on the experiences of Muslim students in Maryland public schools to better understand and address issues related to Islamophobia, bullying, and discrimination in the school environment.

The insights gained will help inform policy recommendations and initiatives to create a more supportive and equitable educational environment for Muslim students.

The survey is part of CAIR’s ongoing efforts to create a safe and inclusive educational atmosphere for all students.

Key Objectives of the Survey:

  • Understand Experiences: Gather data on the experiences of Muslim students regarding discrimination, bullying, and inclusivity.
  • Identify Challenges: Identify specific challenges faced by Muslim students in public schools.
  • Policy Recommendations: Develop data-driven policy recommendations to improve the school climate for Muslim students.
  • Raise Awareness: Increase awareness about the issues faced by Muslim students among educators, policymakers, and the broader community.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
