CAIR-MA Announces Linda Sarsour as Keynote Speaker for Annual Banquet on November 16

November 13, 2024 — BOSTON, MA —  The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) is proud to announce that renowned civil rights activist Linda Sarsour will be the keynote speaker at its Annual Banquet, taking place on November 16, 2024. The theme of this year’s banquet is Refusing to be Silenced, Refusing to be Silent. This highly anticipated event will bring together community members, advocates, and leaders to reflect on the achievements of the past year and further the mission of defending civil liberties, promoting justice, and fostering greater understanding of Islam in Massachusetts.

Linda Sarsour, a prominent advocate for Muslim civil rights, is widely recognized for her work in advancing the rights of marginalized communities. As a co-chair of the 2017 Women’s March and a leading figure in numerous intersectional movements, Sarsour has inspired change at both the grassroots and national levels. Her leadership has been instrumental in campaigns advocating for immigration reform, police accountability, and the rights of women, Muslims, and communities of color. Sarsour’s efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including being named a “Champion of Change” by the Obama White House and recognition as one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People.”

“We are honored to have Linda Sarsour join us as the keynote speaker for our Annual Banquet,” said Tahirah Wadud-Amatul, Executive Director of CAIR-MA. “Her dedication to civil rights and her tireless advocacy for justice aligns with the values we hold at CAIR-MA. We look forward to hearing her powerful insights and rallying our community around the critical work still to be done to safeguard Muslim rights here in Massachusetts.”

The banquet will highlight CAIR-MA’s achievements over the past year, including its work in advocacy, outreach, and education, all aimed at protecting the civil liberties of Muslims across the Commonwealth. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with like-minded advocates, enjoy an evening of reflection, and strengthen their commitment to supporting civil rights.

Capacity for the in-person event is limited and the event will sell out. A limited number of virtual tickets will be made available prior to the event. Reserve your tickets by clicking here.
