The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) is co-organizing the “Stand up for Gaza at the NBA Finals” demonstration as the Boston Celtics compete with the Dallas Mavericks in game 2 of series at Boston TD Garden. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 9, from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM, at Causeway Street near the T entrance.

In collaboration with a coalition of organizations including JVP Boston (Jewish Voice for Peace Boston), Massachusetts Peace Action, Palestine Advocacy Project, and Alliance for Water Justice in Palestine, CAIR-Massachusetts is leveraging this high-profile platform to raise awareness about the genocide in Gaza which, by this weekend, now entering its eighth month.
“By uniting with our partners in this coalition, we are sending a powerful message of solidarity and amplifying the call for an end to the genocide in Gaza,” said Aneeqa Abid, Community Engagement and Advocacy Specialist of CAIR-Massachusetts. “By participating in ‘Stand Up for Gaza’ during the NBA Finals, we aim to amplify the voices of those affected and urge the international community to take decisive steps towards peace and justice.”
During the event, participants will distribute brochures and flyers, as well as hold signs to convey messages of solidarity and support. Attendees are encouraged to wear Palestinian keffiyeh scarves as a symbol of unity and join in the demonstration.
“We invite everyone to join us in standing up for the people of Gaza,” added Abid. “Together, we can send a powerful message of solidarity and advocate for an end to the violence and suffering.”
