The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed an announcement by Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) that she intends to boycott the planned address by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a joint session of Congress.

In a statement, CAIR-MA Executive Director Tahirah Amatul-Wadud said:
“We welcome Senator Elizabeth Warren’s boycott of the joint meeting of Congress next month hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. We encourage all members of the Massachusetts delegation to follow her example “
She noted that CAIR previously commended Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) after he announced that he would not attend Netanyahu’s speech.
