Muslim civil rights group says meeting aims to create space for candid dialogue, education and steps toward rebuilding community trust
(BALTIMORE, MD, 9/1/2026) – On Wednesday, September 2, the Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR Maryland) will hold a media availability with mosque leaders and Baltimore County Board of Education Member Maggie Litz Domanowski at the Islamic Society of Baltimore after a private meeting and tour of the masjid.
This visit comes after Ms. Domanowski’s public apology for sharing an anti-Muslim social media post that promoted false and inflammatory claims about Islam.
The visit fulfills an invitation by CAIR at the September 25 meeting of the Baltimore County Board of Education, for Domanowski to travel to a mosque and meet local Muslims impacted by this harmful rhetoric.
CAIR is helping facilitate the engagement to encourage dialogue, strengthen religious literacy and identify meaningful steps the school system can take to protect the dignity and safety of Muslim students.
