(CANTON, MI, 10/25/2021) – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on state and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate a possible bias motive for the vandalism of Black church in Metro Detroit that was spray-painted with Nazi swastikas.
Yesterday morning, the pastor of the Greater New Life Church in Roseville arrived at the house of worship to see it desecrated with racist graffiti. The church has a majority African American congregation.

“We call on local, state and federal law enforcement authorities to rigorously investigate this vandalism and to bring hate crime charges if a bias motive is indicated,” said CAIR-Michigan Executive Director Dawud Walid. “No faith community should be intimidated to attend their house of worship due to racist hate.”
Walid added that CAIR-MI is offering a $1,000 reward for any information provided that leads to an arrest and conviction relating to this incident.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
