(MINNEAPOLIS, MN, 6/23/20) – The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Minnesota) called on that state’s Republican Party leaders to repudiate a GOP lawmaker who falsely claimed that Antifa and Muslim organizations plan to “police Minneapolis under Muslim rule.”
State Rep. Steve Green (R-Fosston) was quoted by local media making the Islamophobic comments during a Hubbard County Board meeting on Tuesday.

In a statement, CAIR-Minnesota Executive Director Jaylani Hussein said:
“The hate-filled rhetoric promoted by Representative Green is further evidence that we all need to stand in continued solidarity against racism, Islamophobia and white supremacy. These bigoted views demonstrate Mr. Green’s inability to represent and to serve all people equally.”
The Washington-based civil rights organization has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims, immigrants and members of other minority groups since the election of Trump as president.
Hussein said CAIR and the American Muslim community are standing in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism and white supremacy.
