Tomorrow, Thursday, October 3, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) will join the families of five Muslim women killed in a June 2023 car crash, along with community members, to pray for and remember their loved ones ahead of the federal trial scheduled for Derrick Thompson next Monday, October 7.
The event will bring together the families of the five girls and the community to pray for them and highlight the contributions and impact they are left behind. Extended family members and community members are encouraged to attend. The families will also be available to speak about their daughters and the profound impact this tragedy has had on their lives.

Sahra Liban Gesaade, 20, along with her friends Salma Mohamed Abdikadir, 20; Sagal Burhaan Hersi, 19; Siham Adan Odhowa, 19; and Sabiriin Mohamoud Ali, 17, were tragically killed in a collision in June 2023. Derrick Thompson, who is responsible for the deaths of the five girls, has two upcoming trials. He has not yet entered a plea in the Hennepin County case and has until November to decide. However, his federal trial is set to begin next week on October 7. At this event, families and community members will come together to pray for the five girls and prepare for the upcoming trial.
