On Monday, November 24, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN), along with Muslim community leaders, legal professionals and advocates, will hold a press conference to address escalating Islamophobic attacks targeting Minnesota’s Muslim and Somali communities, including the federal government’s recent termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali immigrants.
Speakers will address recent political disinformation campaigns targeting Somali and Muslim communities; legal and humanitarian implications of ending Somali TPS protections; and CAIR-MN’s response strategy, which includes advocacy, legal support, and community safety efforts.
The organization will also outline upcoming meetings with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and other officials to coordinate protection and response.
