CAIR-MN to Join Community Members to Respond to Moratorium on Muslim-Friendly Development

Later today, representatives from the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) plan to attend a Lino Lakes City Council meeting and join community members as they respond to the council’s decision to place a moratorium on the Madinah Lakes project. This development, which proposes inclusive housing options and a mosque at its core, has faced significant opposition fueled by Islamophobic sentiments.

The Lino Lakes City Council voted two weeks ago to move forward with the moratorium process. The community has opportunities to speak and respond to the moratorium before it becomes official.

WHEN: Monday, May 13, 6:00 PM

WHERE: Lino Lakes City Council, City Hall, 600 Town Center Parkway, Lino Lakes, MN 55014

It is worthy to note that Islamic institutions in Minnesota have been frequent targets of bias incidents.

Online forums and social media channels have been platforms on which opponents have openly expressed their anti-Muslim bias, citing the project’s alignment with Islamic values as their reason for opposition.
