The Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MO), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the arrest of a suspect in vandalism targeting a church and an Asian restaurant in University City last year.
On Sunday, a man was charged with property damage motivated by discrimination following two incidents that happened between January and October 2023. According to the police, he was part of a group that spray painted the name of a white nationalist group on One Family Church and PokeDoke Asian Cuisine Restaurant, both of which had damages that exceeded $750. According to charging documents, the man told police he helped vandalize the buildings due to his dislike of “Blacks or Jews.”
