CAIR-NY Calls on 77 WABC to Drop ‘Deranged Racist’ Sid Rosenberg for 9/11 Remarks, History of Anti-Black Racism

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on 77 WABC to drop “deranged racist” Sid Rosenberg for hateful remarks on the 9/11 terror attacks and said that Rosenberg never should have been hired due to his past racist remarks about Black women.

Yesterday, during a segment on his morning show, Rosenberg made a series of inflammatory comments with former Governor Andrew Cuomo referencing the September 11th attacks while discussing New York State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani. Rosenberg implied that Mamdani “would probably cheer” if another 9/11-style terrorist attack occurred, with Cuomo seemingly agreeing.

In a statement, CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher, Esq. said:

“Conservative radio stations are an important part of New York City’s political landscape, but even the most conservative station should not platform deranged racists and open bigots.

“WABC should have never hired Sid Rosenberg in the first place given his racist history of comparing Black female athletes to animals. Mr. Rosenberg’s similarly bigoted remarks about 9/11 and Zohran Mamdani should lead to his immediate, long overdue termination.

“These false claims of an American Muslim politician celebrating another 9/11 attack may be expected on the comments section of a hate site, but WABC should not provide it a platform on a radio program accessible to thousands of New Yorkers.”
