The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the vandalism of a menorah in the Bronx.
During Hanukkah, a menorah installed by the Bronx Jewish Center in Morris Park was vandalized twice, with the second incident occurring on the last day of the holiday. The menorah was found split in half and partially collapsed.

CAIR-NY Executive Director Afaf Nasher, Esq., stated:
“We condemn all acts of vandalism motivated by bigotry and religious intimidation. Every faith group must be able to worship in peace, without fear of property damage or violence.”
She urged all houses of worship to refer to CAIR’s Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety guide, which contains security advice applicable to institutions of all faiths.
Nasher said the American Muslim community stands in solidarity with all those challenging systemic racism and bigotry in all its forms.
