The Pittsburgh chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Pittsburgh), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the recent scattering of purported Ku Klux Klan flyers throughout Indiana and nearby communities.
According to Indiana Borough Police, roughly fifty flyers promoting white supremacist ideology were discovered across several streets in the borough between the late hours of November 14th and the morning of November 15th. Law enforcement officials have stated that hate-motivated acts will not be tolerated and that their investigation remains ongoing. Similar materials were reportedly found in neighboring towns, including Tarentum and Brackenridge.

In a statement, CAIR-Pittsburgh Executive Director Christine Mohamed said:
“The distribution of these hateful flyers is a cowardly attempt to spread fear and division. These actions have no place in our communities. We commend local authorities and community members for their swift response and for standing together against hate in all its forms. True strength lies in unity, not in the rhetoric of hate and intimidation.”
She noted that CAIR-Pittsburgh has recently documented multiple instances of white supremacist propaganda in Western Pennsylvania and urged continued vigilance and community reporting.
CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
