Kit contains template letters and resolutions to urge elected officials to recognize Eid and promote a Gaza ceasefire
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the nation, today released its 2024 Ramadan Toolkit, a comprehensive guide and resource for supporting the Muslim community during the month-long daybreak to sunset fast.
The toolkit includes template letters for workplace and student accommodations during Ramadan and advocacy resources such as letters and resolutions urging elected officials to recognize Eid and promote a Gaza ceasefire at state and local levels.

In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Department Coordinator Shafiquil Muhshna said:
“Muslims are encountering unprecedented levels of discrimination. Utilize CAIR’s 2024 Ramadan Toolkit to assert your rights and enhance your worship during this sacred month. Now more than ever, it is crucial for American Muslims to advocate for our brothers and sisters in Palestine. As we engage in worship and reflection during Ramadan, we must also stand in solidarity with those experiencing oppression and injustice. By utilizing resources like CAIR’s toolkit and amplifying our voices, we can actively support efforts for peace and justice in Palestine.”
Earlier this week, CAIR encouraged leaders of mosques and Islamic centers nationwide to question any relevant public officials who visit their facilities during the upcoming month of Ramadan about their stance on the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
[NOTE: Ramadan is the month on the Islamic lunar calendar during which Muslims abstain from food, drink and marital relations from break of dawn to sunset. This year, Ramadan is expected to begin on or about March 11. Because dates may vary, consult local mosques or Muslim community leaders for exact dates and times of the beginning and end of Ramadan. The end of Ramadan is marked with the Eid ul-Fitr (EED-al-FITTER), or “feast of fast breaking” holiday, often referred to simply as “Eid.” Many communities hold multicultural bazaars and other family activities following the Eid prayers, which are often attended by public officials.]
