CAIR Says Biden Admin Complicit in Starvation Imposed on Gaza Civilians by Israel

UN experts: “Currently every single person in Gaza is hungry, a quarter of the population are starving and struggling to find food and drinkable water, and famine is imminent.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said the Biden administration is complicit in the growing starvation in Gaza imposed by Israel’s far-right government after UN experts said, “a quarter of the population are starving.”

UN human rights experts said:

“Currently every single person in Gaza is hungry, a quarter of the population are starving and struggling to find food and drinkable water, and famine is imminent. Pregnant women are not receiving adequate nutrition and healthcare, putting their lives at risk. In addition all children under five – 335,000 – are at high risk of severe malnutrition as the risk of famine conditions continues to increase, a whole generation is now in danger of suffering from stunting.”

Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator told CNN that the “great majority” of 400,000 Gazans “are actually in famine, not just at risk of famine.” “People in Gaza risk dying of hunger just miles from trucks filled with food,” said head of the UN World Food Program (WFP) Cindy McCain

“The far-right Israeli government is deliberately starving hundreds of thousands of people as a medieval tactic of war with the complicity of the Biden administration, which continues to treat Palestinians suffering in Gaza as less than human and ignore the majority of Americans who favor a ceasefire and the pursuit of a just, lasting peace,” said CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.

He noted that Palestine’s mission to the United Nations condemned Secretary of State Antony Blinken for not mentioning the more than 24,000 Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza in his post marking 100 days of Israel’s attack. “Shame on those who remain complicit and not call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Shame on them.”

Over the weekend, CAIR condemned the murder “in cold blood” of Hala Khreis, a Palestinian grandmother in Gaza reportedly shot by an Israeli sniper while holding the hand of her grandson who was waving a white flag as the family fled on foot along an “evacuation route” that had been declared safe by the Israeli army.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
