The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on President Biden to take action to rein in the “out-of-control” far-right government of Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel again slaughtered Palestinian children in Gaza.
At least 22 people, mostly women and children, were massacred in an Israeli strike on a school in Gaza on Saturday. Those killed include 13 children, six women, and a three-month-old baby.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has already resulted in the killing of at least 41,272 Palestinians, including 16,795 children and 11,378 women. Most Gazans have been forced from their homes, which were then destroyed in a Israeli campaign of mass destruction and ethnic cleansing.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“Instead of enabling and excusing genocide, President Biden must take concrete action – including an arms embargo on Israel and a forced ceasefire – to rein in the out-of-control Netanyahu government that carries out daily massacres of women and children in Gaza and the West Bank. The slaughter, ethnic cleansing and forced starvation of the Palestinian people – and the denial of their humanity – must end.”
Last week, CAIR called video of Israeli soldiers throwing the bodies of Palestinian civilians from rooftops in the occupied West Bank “sickening and depraved.” The bodies dropped from the rooftops were also desecrated by Israeli bulldozers.
CAIR also called on the Biden administration to take action after a UN committee accused Israel of “massively” violating the child rights treaty in Gaza and to condemn the Israeli government for killing children and maiming numerous civilians in Lebanon by detonating bombs reportedly placed in pagers without any regard for innocent life.
