CAIR Says Biden to Blame After UN Chief Says Gaza Has Highest Number of Child Amputees Per Capita Anywhere in the World

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said President Biden is responsible for enabling the Israeli genocide in Gaza that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says, “now has the highest number of children amputees per capita anywhere in the world – many losing limbs and undergoing surgeries without even anesthesia.”

Guterres also said: “The catastrophe in Gaza is nothing short of a complete breakdown of our common humanity. The nightmare must stop. We cannot continue to look away.”

CAIR recently applauded the International Criminal Court (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza genocide.

Israel has slaughtered more than 44,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and has murdered some 3,700 people since it began its siege of northern Gaza.

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:

“History will hold President Biden and his administration’s officials responsible for enabling the Israeli genocide in Gaza. For more than a year, he has remained unmoved by the far-right Israeli government’s systematic campaign of slaughter, ethnic cleansing, forced starvation, and mass destruction that he unfortunately supported and excused.

“Absent any action by our own government to defend international law and the humanity of the Palestinian people, the world community must step up to end the genocide.”

Yesterday, CAIR condemned a new ban on the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, at mosques as the Israeli government’s latest act of war against Islam and repeated its call for Muslim-majority nations to take concrete action to end the Israeli government’s genocide.

Last week, CAIR condemned the Israeli murder of a leading doctor in Gaza and urged the international community to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (Nov. 29) with renewed efforts to end Israel’s genocide.
