The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today Israeli war crimes, act of genocide and human rights abuses are “becoming too numerous to document fully” and citing:
- Amnesty International says Israeli authorities must end indefinite incommunicado detention of Palestinians from Gaza, without charge or trial under. The organization documented the cases of 27 Palestinian former detainees, including a 14-year-old boy, who were detained without access to attorneys or contact with their families. According to Amnesty: “All those interviewed by Amnesty International said that during their incommunicado detention, which in some cases amounted to enforced disappearance, Israeli military, intelligence and police forces subjected them to torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment.”
- An Israeli court sentence a 12-year-old Palestinian child (Ayham Nawaf Al-Salaymeh) to 12 months of imprisonment after he spent 14 months under house arrest.
- Video has been posted online of an Israeli missile strike on a Palestinian family in a horse-drawn cart in Gaza.
- Oxfam reports that Israel’s systematic weaponizing of water against Palestinians in Gaza has reduced the amount of water available to the civilian population.
- The United Nations confirmed receiving reports of structures belonging to Palestinians being demolished in Jericho in the occupied West Bank.
- Israel far-right Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir staged a provocative visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem surrounded by Israeli troops. Ben-Gvir has been convicted eight times for offenses that include racism and supporting a terrorist organization.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he will not approve the establishment of a field hospital in Israel to treat Gazan children who are unable to receive medical care abroad.
Israel has already slaughtered almost 40,000 people – mostly women and children – in Gaza.
In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Mitchell said:
“The far-right, racist Israeli government’s daily acts of genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass destruction, and forced starvation are becoming too numerous to fully document. From mauling a Palestinian teenager to death with an attack dog, to blowing up a refugee family traveling on a horse and buggy, to raping Palestinian prisoners with electric rods, the Israeli government is completely out of control.
“Despite this unconscionable behavior, the Biden administration continues the flow of weapons that enable the genocide. How many more people have to die before you enforce your own red line, President Biden? How many more?”
He noted that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant within the next two weeks. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is expected to condemn Israel’s “permanent occupation” of the West Bank in a ruling on Friday.
Yesterday, CAIR called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to ban the Israeli government from official participation or recognition in the 2024 Olympics in response to its genocide in Gaza, just as the IOC did to Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine.
Washington, D.C., based CAIR also condemned remarks by Republican Jewish Coalition CEO Matt Brooks that seemed to endorse ‘carpet bombing” Gaza.
