The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said a statemen by the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) that some 12,000 children under five in Gaza are suffering from acute malnutrition “should shock the world’s conscience” and lead to concrete action against Israel’s campaign of forced starvation.
“In July, nearly 12,000 children under five years were identified as having acute malnutrition in Gaza, the highest monthly figure ever recorded,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“The deliberate starvation of Gaza’s children should shock the conscience of every government, institution, and individual with the power to act. This is not a tragedy caused by natural disaster or misfortune — it is the result of a calculated policy by the genocidal Israeli government. “Forcibly starving civilians, especially children, is a war crime. The world must not look away. It must act now to stop this atrocity and hold those responsible accountable.”
CAIR repeated its call for the Trump administration, members of Congress, and the international community to demand an immediate end to the siege of Gaza, unfettered humanitarian access and accountability for those committing and complicit with Israel’s genocide.
Earlier today, CAIR called on the Trump administration to cut ties with a reported anti-Muslim mercenary leading security for the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in Gaza.
Doctors Without Borders report says GHF distribution points are “sites of orchestrated killing and dehumanization.”
The number of Palestinians slaughtered as they tried to obtain food for their starving families from GHF sites is approaching 2,000. The GHF program is part of Israel’s campaign of forced starvation in Gaza.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
