On January 4, the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, plans to join District 16 community activists in a town hall, pressing Representative Anna Eshoo to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to stop justifying genocide.
WHAT: Town hall with constituents of Rep. Anna Eshoo, featuring firsthand testimonials and insights into the current situation in Gaza
WHEN: Thursday, January 4 | 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
WHERE: Los Gatos Islamic Center, 16769 Farley Rd., Los Gatos
Before the town hall, at 2:30 p.m., constituents of Reps. Eshoo, Lofgren, and Panetta plan to visit their district offices to deliver handwritten letters from children, urging these officials to support a permanent ceasefire.
In a statement, town hall organizer Naiema Din said, “As a group of diverse community members, we are deeply concerned by Rep. Eshoo’s current stance on the tragic situation in Gaza. This town hall provides a crucial platform for the community to engage and amplify our call for Rep. Eshoo to actively support a ceasefire. Our collective efforts aim to bring about a change in her position and demonstrate the urgent need for peace and justice in Gaza.”
CAIR-SFBA Policy Coordinator Musa Tariq added, “This town hall is not just a meeting; it’s a rallying cry for decisive action. Constituents of Rep. Eshoo have repeatedly urged her through rallies, emails, phone calls, and letter-writing campaigns to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. And our pressure will not stop until Rep. Eshoo heeds her constituents’ call—the same call made by more than 50 of her Congressional colleagues, the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, and countless other organizations of conscience. Our voices, our advocacy, and our resolve for Palestine are unwavering.”
CAIR-SFBA is an office of CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
