CAIR-Texas Welcomes Rearrest of Texan Woman Charged with Attempted Murder of a 3-Year-Old Muslim Child

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed local and federal law enforcements decision to rearrest Elizabeth Wolf, the alleged perpetrator in the hate crime targeting a three-year-old Muslim Palestinian girl, after she bailed herself out of the jail the next day after her original arrest.

On May 19th, Elizabeth Wolf, 42, allegedly tried to drown two American Palestinian children in an apartment complex swimming pool after making racist remarks toward the children’s Palestinian American mother, who wears an Islamic head scarf (hijab). CAIR Texas previously asked state and federal law enforcement authorities to take all precautions to keep the Muslim family and the Muslim community safe and to investigate it as a hate crime.

In a statement, CAIR-Austin Operations Manager Shaimaa Zayan said:

“The affected family and the American Muslim community are temporarily relieved to know the alleged perpetrator is in custody again. We thank local and the federal law enforcement for the rearrest and the progress in the case investigation.

“We also appreciate the potential social services that were discussed with the family last week as they navigate their life after this traumatic event. CAIR-Texas remains committed to advocating for the family and the American Muslim community until justice, peace and equity are achieved.”

“My office is aware of the recent rearrest of Elizabeth Wolf for capital murder charge. Our community continues to suffer the trauma and harm caused by Mrs. Wolf’s actions, and we hope the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office prosecutes this individual to the fullest extent possible. My office will continue to monitor this ongoing investigation,” said Texas State Representative Salman Bhojani, House District 92.
