(BALTIMORE, MD, 3/17/2022) – On Saturday, March 19, the Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations will co-sponsor a job and resource fair hosted by Dar Us Salaam and Islamic Relief USA for newly-arrived Afghan families.

“We encourage community advocates working with Afghan families to spread the word and let them know of this event so they can take advantage of opportunities to network and apply for jobs,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “We applaud Dar Us Salaam and Islamic Relief USA for partnering to host this fair.”
She said CAIR will be offering a “know your rights” training and publications. The event is being implemented with the generous support of Islamic Relief USA.
Chaudry added that CAIR has been seeking greater support for Afghan refugees in Maryland and nationwide.

“The objective of this event is to connect families with resources that can provide them with pertinent information that will allow them to acquire the knowledge needed to sustain themselves and their families here in the U.S.,” said Dar Us Salaam Program Manager Marnice Williams. “There will be discussions and in-person sessions related to career counseling, knowing their legal rights, public benefits, financial literacy and how to protect themselves just to name a few. We’ll also have employers such as but not limited to Amazon and Lorien Health Systems in attendance and ready to speak with the participants about available job opportunities.”
