CAIR to Join 150+ Local Groups for Gaza Ceasefire Press Conference at Senator Van Hollen’s Baltimore Office

Delegation to deliver letters from more than 150 organizations representing over 200,000 people in the Baltimore-areacalling on local members of Congress to demand an immediate ceasefire the middle East conflict. 

(BALTIMORE, MD, 12/18/23) –On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) plans to join what organizers are calling an “unprecedented coalition,” more than 150 Baltimore-area organizations and small businesses will deliver a letter to U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen urging local members of Congress to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.  

Organizations representing more than 200,000 Baltimore-area residents, including 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East MD/DC, Baltimore NAACP, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, will hold a press conference at 12 PM Tuesday at 137 North Ave, outside Senator Chris Van Hollen’s Baltimore office. The event will conclude with a delegation personally delivering the letter. 

The letter calls on Sen. Van Hollen (D-MD), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), Rep. Ruppersberger (MD-02), and Rep. Sarbanes (MD-03) to support an immediate ceasefire. Signatories include leading labor, racial justice, faith and progressive organizations, in addition to dozens of prominent Baltimore small businesses.
