CAIR to Release University Campus Islamophobia and Free Speech Report

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will release a report evaluating Islamophobia and free speech issues at more than 50 places of higher education nationwide.

Embargoed copies of the report are available to mainstream media. (Please email mhasan@cair.com from your work email address for an advance copy. The report is embargoed until 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11.)

“This report rates campuses on the alarming methods their administrations used to target free speech and anti-genocide activism since October 2023,” said Dr. Maryam Hasan, CAIR’s research and advocacy specialist. “Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism on campus must be documented, measured, and rated so that students can identify which campuses protect free speech and faculty can determine where academic freedom flourishes.”

Last year, CAIR released its 2025 Civil Rights Report, Unconstitutional Crackdowns, which revealed that Islamophobia remains at record-high levels nationwide. CAIR said viewpoint discrimination against those speaking out against genocide and apartheid was a key factor in many cases.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
