(WASHINGTON, D.C., 8/8/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the passage of a resolution by the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates condemning Islamophobia. That body includes 597 delegates from ABA entities and state, local and specialty bar associations and sets ABA policy.

Resolution 524 states in part: “That the American Bar Association urges federal, state, local, territorial, and tribal governments in the United States to condemn Islamophobia and to develop and implement comprehensive strategies to combat Islamophobia.”
Former CAIR National Board Chair Roula Allouch spoke in favor of the resolution.
“We welcome this resolution against Islamophobia by the largest voluntary association of lawyers in the world and the nation’s leading legal association, and hope the steps suggested by the resolution will be adopted by state and national policymakers,” said CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell.
