(WASHINGTON D.C., 9/19/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today applauded a new policy by online travel booking site Booking.com to add safety and human rights warnings to all reservations in illegal Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank.
Those warnings will correctly refer to the West Bank as “occupied” and will add a label stating: “Visiting the area may be accompanied by an increased risk to safety and human rights or other risks to the local community and visitors.”

In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“We applaud the decision by Booking.com to recognize the reality of the occupation and the human rights abuses resulting from Israeli apartheid policies. More corporations should call out Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian land and its system of racial, religious and ethnic segregation.”
He noted that earlier this year, CAIR praised Ben & Jerry’s for its refusal to sell products in illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine.
Awad added that Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Presbyterian Church USA have recently labeled Israel an apartheid state.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
