CAIR Welcomes Charges Against Louisiana Officers Charged in Death of Black Man

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/16/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed charges against five Louisiana law enforcement officers for their suspected roles in the 2019 death of Ronald Greene.

The officers were charged yesterday with crimes ranging from negligent homicide to malfeasance following the release of video footage last year that reportedly showed them beating, stunning and dragging Ronald Greene, a Black man whose 2019 death was initially blamed on a car crash. Greene’s death was the subject of an attempted cover-up that was exposed by the Associated Press last year.
