The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed charges brought against a man who allegedly made death threats targeting Vice President Kamala Harris and previously made anti-Muslim threats.
A Virginia man has been charged with making death threats against Vice President Kamala Harris in several posts on the social media platform Gettr and appeared in federal court on Monday. The man also previously threatened to kill Muslims.
In online posts, he allegedly described ways he wanted to kill the vice president. One post in 2023 reportedly stated that people should “go out with your guns and kill all Muslims.”

“We welcome the charges against this individual and thank law enforcement for taking action before his alleged threats could be turned into violent actions,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Both political violence and violence targeting faith communities are unacceptable and must be condemned.”
