The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the life sentence for a man who shot two Hispanic men in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, in 2024.
At that time of that shooting, CAIR welcomed hate crime charges.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“Violence based on race, ethnicity, national origin, or any protected characteristic is an affront to our values as a nation. This sentence sends a message that bias-motivated violence will be treated with the seriousness it demands.”
Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
