The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the passage of a resolution by the student senate of North Carolina State University to recognize the victims of the 2015 Chapel Hill shooting and to condemn anti-Muslim hate crimes.
The resolution, titled the “Our Three Winners Remembrance Act,” also honors the positive impact Deah Barakat, Yusor Abu-Salha and Razan Abu-Salha had on the Raleigh community and the University, and applauds the continued work of organizations like the Our Three Winners Foundation, The Light House Project, DYOR Clinic, Al-Iman School and the Islamic Association of Raleigh in fostering advocacy and remembrance.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“We applaud the North Carolina State student senate for adopting this resolution commemorating and honoring three young people who lost their lives because of hate. Their lives serve as an inspiration to all people of conscience to fight anti-Muslim bigotry and all forms of hate.”
