(WASHINGTON, D.C., 12/21/2020) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) last night presented Margari Aziza Hill, executive director of the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative (MuslimARC), with its “American Muslim of the Year” award.
That award goes to an American Muslim individual, organization or coalition that has demonstrated “exemplary service to the country and the community” at the local or national level over the last year by “inspiring and empowering.”

CAIR’s “Community Service Award” was presented to representatives of the thousands of Muslim medical and health care professionals who have shown such dedication during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The award was accepted by Dr. Hasan Shanawani, president of American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP).

CAIR presented the awards at its virtual 26th annual gala, “Meet the Moment: Heal Our Nation, Champion Justice,” which also featured community leaders Linda Sarsour, Imam Zaid Shakir and Dr. Altaf Husain, and special video messages from Reps. Andre Carson (D-IN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
During the gala, CAIR premiered its annual video, “Meet the Moment: Heal Our Nation, Champion Justice.”
