Toolkit provides guidance on requesting workplace and school accommodations, details religious rights and offers sample proclamations and resolutions honoring Ramadan
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released its Your Rights in Ramadan Toolkit, a comprehensive resource designed to support Muslim employees, students, families, and community leaders during the month-long fast of Ramadan.

The toolkit provides practical guidance on requesting workplace and school accommodations, details religious rights, and offers templates for local and state proclamations and resolutions honoring Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a sacred time of reflection, discipline, service, and spiritual renewal for millions of American Muslims,” said Robert S. McCaw, Government Affairs Department Director at CAIR. “No student should have to choose between faith and academics. No employee should have to fear retaliation for observing their religion. This toolkit equips our community with the knowledge and confidence to assert their rights and ensure Ramadan and Eid are respected nationwide.”
The 2026 Your Rights in Ramadan Toolkit includes:
- Know Your Rights Guidance for employees and students seeking reasonable religious accommodations under federal and state law
- Sample accommodation request letters for school and workplace use
- Templates for Ramadan and Eid proclamations and resolutions for city councils, school boards, and state legislatures
Earlier, CAIR released its Eid everywhere Campaign Toolkit, a resource developed to help parents, students, educators, CAIR chapters, and community advocates secure recognition and religious accommodations for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha in K–12 schools and colleges nationwide. Use this toolkit to get Eid on the school calendar in your district.
As part of an initiative launched by the US Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), CAIR has also released a toolkit that mosques can use to host Ramadan Interfaith Dinners during the holy month. The toolkit includes:
- Tips with do’s and don’t for a successful dinner
- Editable social media graphics
- Sample invite for the general public
- Sample invite for elected officials
- Sample dinner program schedule for guests
- Sample press release/announcement
