The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced that registration is now open for its ‘ANCHOR PROJECT Part Two: Journey into Storytelling” scheduled to be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025.
Join journalist Dilshad Ali as she shares her personal journey into the media world and offers insights on how to avoid pitfalls, build connections, and navigate to succeed in a competitive, fast-paced environment.

ANCHOR Project Mission: The mission of CAIR Maryland’s ANCHOR Project is to amplify Muslim voices in media, fostering a new generation of journalists who are committed to truth, integrity, and representation.
ANCHOR Project Goals & Objectives:
- Provide participants with real-world insights into journalism and media careers.
- Equip students with practical skills for storytelling, reporting, and broadcasting.
- Cultivate leadership and critical thinking in addressing underrepresentation in media.
- Build a network of aspiring journalists and mentors within the Muslim community.
“Attending a webinar led by a Muslim journalist offers college students a unique opportunity to learn about the power of storytelling, the importance of diverse perspectives in media, and how to navigate the industry while staying true to their values” said CAIR Maryland’s Outreach Coordinator, Kimberly Syuardi.
CAIR has been organizing youth leadership programs in states across the country for more than a decade. Participants in these programs have gone on to become respected community leaders, activists, community organizers, and youth leaders.
