Cuban-American Attorney, Thania Diaz Clevenger, Appointed CAIR-Florida’s Chief Operations Director

(TAMPA, FL, 3/3/2020) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations – Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, today announced the appointment of Attorney Thania Diaz Clevenger as Chief Operations Director.

Attorney Thania Diaz Clevenger has been with CAIR-Florida for eight (8) years. She initially joined the organization as the Civil Rights Coordinator on a part-time basis. Thania later was promoted to full-time and, eventually, became the Civil Rights/ Legal Department Director. She was responsible for growing the organization’s Civil Rights/ Legal Department into one of the strongest Civil Rights legal service providers for all people in the State of Florida. 

Ms. Clevenger, a Cuban-American from Florida, holds a B.A. from St. Leo University and a Juris Doctor from Stetson College of Law. At the time of her appointment, she served as the organization’s Civil Rights Director exemplarily. During that time she successfully implemented protocols which have improved efficiency in the legal department and has frequently been recognized for her outstanding achievement. For the past year Thania took over the duties and responsibilities of Acting Operations Director.
