Linda Sarsour to Speak on Palestine at CAIR’s 29th Annual Banquet on Oct. 21 in Va.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/16/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced that Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour plans to deliver remarks on Palestine at CAIR’s 29th annual banquet in Arlington, Virginia, on October 21. CAIR has updated its original banquet programming to focus on the work needed to support the Palestinian people.

Linda Sarsour is a prominent Palestinian-American activist. She founded the first Muslim online organizing platform, MPOWER Change, and has been at the forefront of major civil rights campaigns, including calling for an end to unwarranted surveillance of New York’s Muslim communities.

“In this time of great difficulty, it is essential that our community come together to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people as they face the threat of ethnic cleansing,” said CAIR Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell. “We thank Linda Sarsour for agreeing to join us, and invite all community members to join us as we focus on the work we must do to stop the violence overseas and the rise of bigotry here at home.”

  • Providing media outlets with the names of expert Palestinian and Muslim speakers to reduce media bias
  • Assisting both students who are facing threats because of their Muslim faith and protestors who are facing threats for exercising their right to advocate for Palestinian human rights, and
  • Giving guidance to mosques and local communities about how to address this crisis.
