The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced that it plans to honor Amy Greer, Baher Azmy and Ramzi Kassem, the attorneys of Palestinian-American activist Mahmoud Khalil, with Civil Rights Hero awards at its upcoming gala on September 20. The attorneys are also scheduled to speak at CAIR’s Sep. 19–Sep. 20 national leadership and policy conference.
Amy Greer is an Associate Attorney at Dratel & Lewis. Professor Ramzi Kassem is the founder and Co-Director of Creating Law Enforcement Accountability and Responsibility (CLEAR). Baher Azmy serves as the Legal Director at the Center of Constitutional Rights. They represented Palestinian-American activist Mahmoud Khalil and succeeded in getting him released from unconstitutional detention.
