When Madinah started wearing hijab at work, her boss told her, “You’re looking like a terrorist!” He then gave her an ultimatum: take it off or lose your job. She refused to remove her hijab, so she was fired.
DONATE TO CAIR BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR
During Ramadan, Naim was starved for eight days inside a prison cell. “Yesterday I was feeling dizzy and my limbs were tingly. . .Please feed me. . .I am very HUNGRY.” When he begged prison officials for food, they told him they would only agree to force feed him—during daylight hours—so that he couldn’t complete his fast.
Issam was kicked off his flight after boarding. Moments later, FBI agents publicly searched and interrogated him. Why was Issam being treated like a criminal? A flight attendant felt “uncomfortable” with him because he used the bathroom and “flushed the toilet twice.”
Murat was handcuffed and surrounded at the border by armed Customs officers who aimed their guns at him, his wife and their eight children. At the same border, a young man named Anas was detained in a freezing cold cell until he fell unconscious before being transported to a hospital.
These American Muslims are our community members, and CAIR represents each of them in legal action across our nation. Sadly, their stories are not rare.
American Muslims call CAIR for help because they count on us to defend them from bigotry and discrimination. Can we count on your financial support so that we can continue helping these people?
We are still short of our $850,000 year-end fundraising goal. Please consider giving $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000 or whatever you can to help us continue our fight to secure justice and advance equality?
