(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/7/2019) – The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its Cincinnati chapter (CAIR-Cincinnati) today offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an armed man who vandalized a Dayton, Ohio, mosque at prayer time.
A white male was caught on video pointing a weapon at surveillance cameras and went on to smash windows at the Islamic Society of Greater Dayton’s Al-Rahman Mosque in downtown Dayton, Ohio, on Friday, Feb. 28 at about 6 a.m., the time of Islamic “fajr” prayers. One person was in the mosque at the time but was uninjured.

CAIR-Cincinnati called on local police and the FBI to investigate the vandalism as a hate crime.

“We hope this reward will result in actionable information for investigators and lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator,” said CAIR-Cincinnati Executive Director Karen Dabdoub.
She noted that CAIR has documented a significant increase in attacks on American Muslims and mosques across the country since the election of Donald Trump as president.
